This summer, I am dedicating my university holidays to an EWH project to help people in Cambodia. We are a group of University students who have undertaken training and now are going to hospitals in Cambodia to repair and maintain medical equipment which otherwise could not be used for treatment. The whole project is 3 month long starting 23.11.15 and can be split up into 3 seperat parts.

Part 1 (23.11.15 -18.12.15): Technical training at UNSW Sydney from a TAFE teacher.

Learning about various types of hospital machines and how to repair minor defects safely. Taking apart some machines to study the interior.

Part 2 (3.1.16 - 30.1.16): Language training, cultur lessons, technical training at Univesity of Puthisastra in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I will be learning some Khmer, the language spoken in Cambodia and learn about the Cambodian culture. Additionally, I will be getting more technical training with the equipment used in Cambodian hospitals.

Part 3 (31.1.16 -28.2.16): In groups of 2, we will be going to hospitals in rural areas in Cambodia. The areas include: Kampong Cham, Kirivong, Svai Reing, Koh Kong, Chey Chumneas, Kampong Tralach, Pursat. The pairs and which group is going to which area will be decided on the spot based on language and technical skills. During this time period the groups will be repairing hospital equipment in the hospital they are sent to.

During the whole stay in Cambodia, we will be staying with local host families.
